Rules of the "HERGÉ Exhibition in Lisbon" Competition

Article 1 - Organising company

The company La Croix de l'Aigle SA, hereinafter referred to as “Hergé Museum", whose registered office is located at 162 Avenue Louise, 1050 Brussels, Belgium, is organising a competition entitled "HERGÉ Exhibition in Lisbon", hereinafter referred to as "the competition".

The competition opens on Thursday 14th October and closes at midnight on Thursday 28th October 2021.

Article 2 - Participation

The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18, except to employees and their families of the following companies: La Croix de l'Aigle SA, Moulinsart SA and Les Studios Hergé ASBL.

The competition will be promoted via the Hergé Museum's Facebook page (, Instagram account (, and website (

The competition is completely free and there is no purchase necessary. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of these rules, including any subsequent changes that may be necessary, for example, due to force majeure. Wherever possible, participants will be notified of such changes.

To enter this competition please send your answers to the following 6 questions by email to:

  1. In which Brussels municipality was Hergé born?
  2. As soon as he arrives in Russia, Tintin is questioned by the People's Commissar. In which city does this interview take place?
  3. What is the name of the Shanghai prison in which Tintin is held?
  4. What is the name of the King of Syldavia at the time when King Ottokar's Sceptre takes place?
  5. The Sbrodj Atomic Research Centre is hidden in the heart of a mountain range. What is its name?
  6. Emir Ben Kalish Ezab, overthrown by Sheik Bab El Ehr, is on the run and has to hide. What real-life monument did Hergé draw inspiration from to represent his lair?

Participation in this competition is personal and nominative. No participation made on behalf of a third party will be taken into account by the Organisers.

The 10 winners will be drawn at random, via Google's random number generator, from amongst the people who correctly answered all the aforementioned questions, and will be contacted personally by email.

Article 3 - The prizes

A prize will be awarded in the context of this competition to the 10 winners drawn at random from among the people who correctly answered all the aforementioned questions.

The prize will consist of two nominative tickets for the "Hergé" exhibition in Lisbon, which runs from 30th September to 11th January 2022.

A maximum of one prize per person will be sent for the duration of the competition.

Prizes cannot be exchanged or converted into cash.

Article 4 - Deadlines and terms of receipt of prizes

The winners agree to communicate their names and that of the person accompanying them to the Hergé Museum, which will provide these to the Calouste-Gulbenkian Foundation, which is hosting the exhibition in its main gallery.

The processing of participant’s personal data is subject to the Belgian law of 30th July 2018 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data.

This information is intended to be used exclusively for the management of the participant’s files. This data will be collected and deleted after this competition by the Hergé Museum.

Article 5 - Responsibilities

The Competition is neither organised nor sponsored by Facebook/Instagram, who are in no way associated with this Competition. Facebook/Instagram may therefore not be held directly or indirectly liable in any way. The information provided by Participants in the context of the Contest is only provided to the Organiser, and not to Facebook/Instagram.

The Hergé Museum’s liability is strictly limited to the delivery of the validly won prize. The Museum does not offer any commercial guarantee or after-sales service for the prizes won.

Under no circumstances may the Hergé Museum be held responsible for any accidents, costs, direct or indirect damage that may occur following participation in the competition and the awarding of prizes.

Participants are aware and accept that the Hergé Museum cannot be held responsible for network failures, losses, delays or technical failures caused by the Internet or the technical service providers involved in data transmission.

The Hergé Museum reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify or cancel the operation if circumstances so require, without being held liable in this respect. No compensation may be claimed as a result. However, these changes may be notified in advance by all appropriate means, in particular via the website:

The Hergé Museum reserves the right to temporarily suspend the possibility of participating in the competition if it can no longer ensure the continuity of the service required for the competition to run.

If the competition has to be postponed, cancelled or interrupted in whole or in part for reasons beyond the control of the Hergé Museum, the latter shall not assume any liability whatsoever.

Any decision by the Organiser or its representatives relating to this Competition is final and without appeal.

Article 6 - Disputes

The law applicable to these rules is Belgian law, except in the case of mandatory national and foreign provisions to the contrary that are more favourable to consumers. If one of the clauses of these rules is declared null and void or illegal by a final court decision, the other provisions of these rules will remain applicable and effective.
